Girteka has recently been awarded the EcoVadis Bronze Medal for its sustainable approach and initiatives. This is the next step in our journey of being a responsible logistics company of the future.
“We are satisfied that our efforts and progress have been noticed and awarded with the EcoVadis Bronze Medal. Sustainability is one of the key elements of how we want to develop responsible logistics. Combining it with the digitalization path we are currently engaged in, we can create synergies and benefits for our customers, communities, and partners, as well as colleagues,” says Simonas Bartkus, Head of Marketing and Communication at Girteka.
EcoVadis is the world’s largest and most trusted provider of business-to-business sustainability ratings, partnering with more than 100,000 companies globally. Ecovadis rates businesses on their sustainability performance in four different areas: Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The platform rates a company’s performance by assessing its policies, strategies, initiatives and results, as well as inputs from third-party professionals and external stakeholders. Participants are scored between 1 and 100 for each of the four themes.
Girteka has achieved great results in the area of sustainability, where all policies and initiatives were analysed in terms of their positive environmental influence, reaching 60 points compared to a business average of 41. Our main strengths are quantitative objectives set on environmental services and advocacy, as well as energy consumption and GHG emissions.
In the area of Labour and Human Rights, as well as Ethics, Girteka’s score was also above average, reaching 50 points and highlighting the recently implemented health insurance packet as one of our strengths.
As the largest asset-based logistics company, Girteka is focused on reducing carbon footprint and delivering sustainable logistics services to all clients. The overall score across the four rated themes for Girteka was 51 points, which resulted in getting awarded with the EcoVadis Bronze Medal.
“Yet we will not slow down here. In fact, we are speeding up with all sustainable solutions and innovations that we are implementing. Our goal is clear – to become a leader in this area, providing sustainable logistics solutions to everyone,” summarizes Bartkus.
