At the end of November, the Financial Times news portal announced a list of Top 100 of the most innovative companies in Europe. Among their ranks – one of the leading Europe’s transport company “Girteka Logistics”. It appeared to be the only Lithuanian company appraised by the “Financial Times” for its achievements in digital innovation this year.
In 2018, two countries from the Baltic States were on the list of Top 100 Europe’s innovators. Four Estonian companies have been mentioned in leading individuals, new technologies and business models, and technology training categories. “Girteka Logistics” founded in Lithuania in 1996 was appraised in the corporate digital transformations category.
At the end of March, “Girteka Logistics”, running a fleet of 5600 trucks, installed a fleet management system “Transics”. Since then, all trucks and trailers have integrated tablets with this innovative software that sends and receives all the real-time data relevant to managers and customers. This system also has apps for mobile phones, so communication with the driver is available even when the driver is outside the truck.
The Innovative Digital Transport Management System package belonging to “WABCO” helps logistics companies to improve fleet efficiency and customer service. “This year is an innovation breakthrough. “Transics” (FMS) system improved communication with our drivers as well as our customer service. We are proud to be ranked by the Financial Times as one of the Europe’s most innovative companies. The achievement that belongs to the whole country of Lithuania, drives us to move forward and continuously improve the efficiency of the operational processes,” says Donatas Načajus, Chief Transport Officer at “Girteka Logistics”.
The Lithuanian company “Girteka Logistics” was mentioned among such world-famous names as “Siemens”, “Vodafone Global Enterprise” and “Booking.com”. British portal for Business and Economics “Financial Times” is read by an audience of approximately 2.2 million people every day.
“Girteka Logistics” is the largest FTL carrier in Europe. The fleet consists of new, less than 2 years old, spacious and comfortable “Volvo”, “Mercedes-Benz” and “DAF” trucks driven by more than 11000 drivers.
