Girteka is proud to announce that it has received a Gold Medal at this year’s Unilever Global Safety Awards in the category of 3rd party transport providers. Girteka, the largest asset-based road freight company in Europe, has been commended by the organizer on its high standards regarding its approach to safety and ensuring safety in all operations.
“It gives us great pleasure to congratulate you and the entire Girteka team on being awarded the ‘2022 Unilever Global Safety Award’ in the ‘3P Transport Carriers’ category,” an official statement from Unilever reads.
Unilever has been celebrating Global (and European) Safety Awards for many years now. This year for the first time Unilever decided to open up the Safety Award Application to external Partners, 3rd-party manufacturing, 3rd-party warehouses and 3rd-party transport providers. Girteka was invited to participate in the competition in the latter category.
“We are looking at the safety issue in a wider perspective in order to ensure a robust safety culture throughout our whole organization, not only in terms of our employees, colleagues, but also the community, as a Responsible Logistics provider,” comments Arūnas Zgirskas, Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Officer at Girteka.
Girteka was reviewed according to Unilever’s safety performance criteria including leadership commitment as well as involvement of drivers and line management on safe travel program, legal compliance on road safety and road safety performance, and a structured safe travel program with 3rd party’s senior management oversight, among others.
The company was recognized by the judges panel for its focus on ensuring transportation services, as well as the working conditions for teams are as safe as possible.
“We were very impressed by the excellent safety performance recorded by the team in recent years. It takes the commitment and determination of strong leadership like yours to deliver these results,” the official statement reads. “You have built something truly special – an authentic safety mindset culture. You are a shining example of what it takes to ensure safety is always the number one priority,” the statement adds.
The Girteka team is delighted to have received the Gold Medal award from Unilever – it sets a great precedent for us as a company to continue working hard on the safety culture of our organization. The company is also focused on outreach programs, promoting, for instance, road safety by organizing and contributing to various initiatives and educational programs. Girteka’s Drivers Academy also continues to be a great training resource for the company’s drivers to practice and improve their safe driving knowledge and skills.
